Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

Got to that things drawer! Anyone need a pen or a lead pencil?

A happy surprise was finding 20 bucks!

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

[ Edited ]

I've been on quite a tear this morning.

2 pairs of jeans for Goodwill.

5 more tops for consignment.

6 more pairs of shoes for consignment (includes 4 pairs of Birkenstocks- determined to get my collection down)

Some old ankle socks, that I walk in, probably 8 pairs into the trash. Took the tags off 6 pair so they can go into the rotation.

1 nightgown into the trash.

A few more small things for Goodwill.

Put out 4 brand, shrink wrapped, new, themed small notebooks to take to the senior center. They love stuff like that to give for prizes for games and stuff.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

I had a productive weekend of decluttering. I shredded a lot of papers, threw out multiple hair products that I never liked nor worked well for me but I held on to them in hopes that they would work better some day in the future. A couple of them were Tweak'd items so that should hopefully kill any desire for me to buy from that brand this week during their today special sales. Also, I hit the candle stash. There were multiples that are years old that I've burned off and on but never loved. Due to I now have a select few that I love to burn and currently have at home, I threw out 6 partially used candles. At least now I do know which brands and scents work best for me and I shouldn't splurge trying others. I realized the ones that were thrown out were all random impulse buy scents/brands. Lessons learned! Tomorrow is recycling pickup day so I broke down all of my cardboard boxes that had been used in deliveries. Doing that alone really cleared out a bunch of clutter since I had been keeping them in case I needed to return or exchange.

Have a great week everyone! Smiley Happy

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

I've been working on some more things...but I've run into a conundrum.

My dear daughter gave me the...the most ugliest photo frame I ever saw in my life!!! Honestly, words defy description!!!

It's one of those frames where you put in several photos. Not to mention that the photos are of her beautiful family, but they are all Christmas-themed. I hate Christmas themed stuff!!!

The frame has been propped up on my walk-in closet floor, (I never did hang it anywhere). It is something I truly would love to pitch. Pull out the photos of course.

I can always say the mice got it. Or, maybe she forgot about it? She never did ask where it was!

My taste is simple, classic; hers is way more eclectic, eccentric.

Ideas? I guess I'll just have to be brutally honest, if she should ever wonder about it. Just seems like it is time for it to go.

@Harpa - how long have you had it?

@gidgetgh  About 7 years.

I just did pull the photos, and the frame is waiting in the recycle bin. Fingers are crossed that it's never mentioned.

@Harpa - I'll give you credit. You held on to it way longer than I would have.

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

I fell far short of my 20 items a week goal last week.  Only purged 13 items:

4 tops, 1 sweater, Christmas candy jar, box of micro popcorn and bag of sea salted peanuts to friends as I cant eat them and DH broke a tooth on the popcorn but our friends will enjoy them.  1 expired can of soup and 4 boxes to the recycle.

However, this is only Monday of a new week and I am way ahead of my 20 items.  I was looking for an old phone number and hoped it was in my Miscellaneous File somewhere on a business card and it was.  It is now in my phone.  I decided to purge that file since I was in it.  I got rid of more than 50 but less than 100 pieces of paper.  Not sure how many, but alot.

Also put one more cardboard box to recycle.

Hi Everyone,

I’m new to this thread. You have all inspired me to get on board the declutter train and make it an everyday discipline!! I appreciate all of your tips and ideas.

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

@Harpa   I also got a frame with pictures from my granddaughter that does not go with my decor or taste at all and it is also kinda ugly I think.  Has a hanger on the back but I will never hang it.  It is currently propped up against a wall in the livingroom unseen corner.

I am thinking about just removing the pictures, put them in each in a nice frame and add them to the bookcase I now use for pictures instead of books.  But what to do with the frame I will never use but know she made.
