Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

I took 3 purses to consignment this afternoon.

I had lunch with a friend today and gave her a medium, bordering on large storage container that I didn't need.  I was glad to get it out of here and she was thrilled to get it. It had never been used.

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

I went through an antique dresser that has been in my guest room, thinking there wasn't much there. And there really wasn't, but more than I remembered. A homemade doll-sized quilt, a homemade child-sized quilt, and some doilies (also homemade). I don't have any attachment to any of these things (the quilts I don't even know who made them, possibly my husbands' mother, whom I knew but she passed before we got married). At any rate, I plan to donate them, along with the dresser.

[ Edited ]

A recliner went out the door today. I have had it for five years, and it just never has worked correctly. Then, it stopped working totally.  Today I decided that it had to go. I called the trash company, and the recliner was on the truck on its way out of my life. If only its removal had not cost so much!

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

I did manage to finish getting my younger son's room organized while on Christmas break, I never did get to my older son's. It just might have to wait til spring break. We didn't get rid of much but did set aside to donate 2 pair of shorts, a pair of baseball pants and a shirt. We tossed some papers, empty boxes, the usual.

I also made a pass thru some kitchen cabinets. Again, didn't get rid of a lot but did set aside to donate 2 water bottles, a coffee cup, 2 plastic containers with lids and a frisbee and a calculator from the junk drawer. Tossed a dishrag and a water bottle.

I'm really enjoying reading about how everyone is doing so far this year, we are all off to a great start!

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

Made some headway with the linen closet - the closet I've been meaning to revamp from a few years ago! Tossed so much! Wait til DH feels the weight of that garbage bin!

I had soft luggage in there with old cosmetics, barrettes - you name it! I was heartless!

Also went into my bath vanity and tossed things there, too.

One of my dresser drawers is next. Not clothes; it's the things drawer.

Once tossed, we'll never miss it!

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

I have 2 more very small things ready for consignment and a very small shopping bag (a short shopping bag) of things for Goodwill. Nothing exciting in there.

At consignment, they already put the 3 purses I took yesterday in the system and I'm hoping she'll show them on a Facebook live today and that they'll sell from it.

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

Hi everyone. Reading everyone's posts, & sounds like everyone is off to a motivated 2023 good start!
As for me...my energy, believe it or not, is just not great yet. I hear it can take time & rest is key...can't believe how I'm still dragging. All major bad symptoms are gone, thankfully! Mostly a cold still left.

But, I'm still making myself do some 10 minute snippets where I get up & go through something. For me, having been out of commission, a lot of it is more cleaning, laundry, straightening up.

But, did more recycle purging yesterday...more catalogs, retail holiday mailings. Went through magazine rack, (no subscriptions anymore or newspapers, just mailings) cleared out more. Decluttered opened cardboard boxes, from last year's deliveries. I always keep a few, in case I need to ship something, which I do occasionally. Had way too many, whittled it down.
This morning threw out expired things in baking cabinet.
Also, my dang internet went out! Frontier says they can't come until 1/25?! ...they have sucked for a long time. I'm putting in a call to Xfinity today to see about changing; they'll likely set me up before Frontier resolves this! So I'll be back, hopefully with more progress, when I'm back online! Keep up the good work everyone!

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

Today I was working in closet and went through sweaters and purged 4 so far.  I also went through  purses and purged several of those.    Some are way too big to carry any more.  I also moved out some 31 totes as well.

I did good for first go round but I will be hitting the closet again and just organizing and rearranging some.

Shoes are next.

These are areas I have a harder time  letting go.  I keep but some I never use.  So out it is going.  This time I am determined.

Re: Declutter 2023: What have you purged today?

I have 3 pairs of shoes ready to go to consignment on Tuesday. They are closed on Mondays. Also, 2 tops for them.

I threw away an old pair of leggings this morning.
