Happy New Year to all reading and posting in this thread! I have not read it yet, but was anxious to post my little bit of purging today.🤣🤣
I have made little progress for the last few months. At Christmas, my daughters did go through some things they still have here and told me to toss some and they took some. Not all, but hey, progress is progress! 🤣🤣🤣
Today I went through a stack of papers I had been keeping on my desk. Odds and ends and some recipes I had clipped from magazines. I filed some, tossed some and shredded some. So much nicer and organized now.

This is only Tuesday and I have managed to dispose of my 20 items for this week without doing a serious dive into a purge.
1 top, 1 dried up pen, 1 home decor item, 2 paperwork items that did not have to go into my file cabinet, 2 years of my planners (thick with 2 pages per day plus monthly calendar) 6 pictures from the group my brother's stepson sent to me that were duplicates of what I had or his friends I didn't know, 1 expired spice, 1 bag of nuts, 2 expired KitKats and 3 pairs of shoes I really liked but they are too high for me and since I already twisted my knee no sense in keeping them and having to look at them and wonder - should I try them. I had previously done a big purge of higher heels shoes
DH and I had previously purged the kitchen when cleaning and reorganizing so I will look at that again later in the year and I also purged by bookcase awhile ago so it is now place for family pictures instead of books.
As I said in my previous post I pretty much purge as I see items so they dont accumulate, so my next planned purge is not until March when it will be time to change from winter to spring clothes. I will continue on with my weekly purge of 20 items.

Last year, my mom gave me a bunch of magazines that she thought I would enjoy. Well they didn't get read or even looked at all, just sat on my bookcase for months! Today's purge - grabbed them and out to the recycling bin!! It cleared off a nice section of the shelf so I'll work on clearing out other stuff and organizing that area better in the upcoming days. I did find myself trying to look through some of the magazines but realized I was just wasting time - did I really want to spend time looking at them? no! I just wanted to get my decluttering done for the day
I'm really enjoying reading all of your posts! Such great motivation!!

Well New Year new sorting and purging! I delved into the cabinets in the hall bath and pitched any thing expired and some things that just never seemed to be used. A large bag headed for the trash! Then headed into the kitchen. The dark recesses under the sink were attacked and much was pitched or found a home else where. Then I continued on my search and destroy mission and cleaned out the freezer. Oh my.....what a load of yuck! I have no idea how much of it found its way there!! I bought stuff that must have seemed like a good idea at the time but no one even sniffed at it! It has all been cleared out and in the trash. I have room for things more desirable like ICE CREAM!
Next I will clean and purge our bathroom.....I hope to return with a encouraging report!
Hope every body keeps up the good work. The struggle is real!

Saw an Avon tube of a skin care product in the bath room cabinet. The tube is almost empty and probably 6 years old. It got thrown out today.

Hi everyone
I joined this post last year and had purged quite a bit. I've done drawers here and there but never wanted to log in to post as it takes days on end for it to finally log out. I do check the boards though, just don't log on until today.
I have been ill these past few months, hyperparathyroids where I took a quick flight to Tampa, had them removed (unfortunately not tumors but hyperplasia) so out of the four parathyroids, I had 3.5 removed. Had one GREAT!! month of feeling THE BEST I've ever felt in my life and then got knocked on my butt in week five. Not enough calcium in my body and having horrific side effects. In and out of emergency rooms. I degress.... this is not the wellness forum but does go along with why I haven't been decluttering.
I now find myself in the need to really get rid of stuff. Not clutter but stuff. My 68 year old sister passed last Wednesday, she lived in Florida and my 77 year old sister lived with her. The 77 year old doesn't get much in SS and pension so she will be moving back to CT to live with me and my husband once the house is sold by the children. The kids figure one year before she has to move and anything can happen in a year. As we all know, a year can fly by.
She's never been to my home and it's up in the air where she will stay. On the first floor she will have a room and the bath across the way so only one room and closet to get rid of. If she decides to do stairs, she will have a good size loft that can be a living room, a bedroom and 1/2 bath (shower first flower tho), so a nice little type apartment she can set up for herself. That will be a LOT of getting rid of stuff to make room for her in these rooms. I'm overwhelmed to say the least, rambling on, I apologize. My mind is in a spin these days with all that has/had/is going on.
Good luck to all. I'll probably post soon as I stated, it takes days and days of logging out before the forums actually log out!

I was able to hit my goal of 27 items both today and yesterday! I tackled my dresser that was really just housing things that should have been thrown out long ago. Discovered I had the trend of buying a new bra, but never throwing out the old ones? Not sure how ancient some of these were but they were tossed out now. Also threw out some hair products and skincare that never worked well for me but I just held on to someday try it again to see if a miracle happened that would make me love it LOL. Also found random bits of things or parts or things that I would "someday fix or need". Considering they had a layer of dust on them, it was time to just throw out since they held no value to me or for anyone else. Another random collection I had that I didn't really know I had - calendars! I found some in my desk dating all the way back to 2017? No value or use to keep them, not sure why they were still around. I'm making progress getting junk out of my home
This is actually the longest streak of decluttering I think I've ever had in my adult life??

16 holiday catalogs going out in tonight's trash. I hate catalogs and magazines in my house.

Another box of mostly unworn clothing has been delivered to my local thrift store.
Months ago, I bought some cheap, plastic hangers from Walmart and, as I remove items from my closet, I hang them and place in a large box.
Once the box is filled, off it goes.
I find that if things are on hangers, it is easier than dropping them in a big bag. I know the thrift store is going to have to hang items, so I just provide the hangers.
