Declutter 2021: What have you purged today?

Happy New Year to all of my fellow purgers!

I am so happy to be able to share this declutter journey with all of you!

I believe this is the fourth year that we've had this thread. While I don't have a lot of big purging to do at this stage of my life, it is always an ongoing journey, whether you have small kids, teenagers, or are empty nesters. Our needs will always change as our stage of life changes, therefore there is always a need to declutter!

For those of you who might be new to this thread, here we post our progress towards decluttering our homes and making them functional places that we love to be in.

All purges count, whether big or small, post them here! Whether it's donated, given to a family member or trashed, if it leaves your house, it counts! Posting is a great way to inspire and motivate each other and give us ideas where we can maybe streamline our own spaces.

Here's to a lighter new year for everyone!

Re: Declutter 2021: What have you purged today?

I will start off this new year by posting my VERY small purge.

Out of the bathroom I tossed an old broken bite guard from my husband and an empty pill bottle that I had put shampoo in when we went away this summer.

From the pantry I tossed 3 pieces of rock hard bubble gum, half a snack size box of hard raisins, and  plastic bag from some store.

From the laundry room I dumped out a very large bottle that was about half full of old bleach. It hardly even smelled like bleach anymore it was so old. I don't use it often, but I replaced it with a smaller bottle just to have some on hand. If I do need it, I want to make sure that it's at least effective.

This year, at least to start, I plan to focus more on organizing than purging, but I'm sure I will find something to declutter. I always do!

constantly,

last night got rid of 2 cute containers from Christmas gift baskets, previously would have kept "in case or because" and my hoard of gift bags that I have never used

Gave two brand new leather dresses to Goodwill, one black the other navy blue . Just do not fit me. Some lucky lady can wear them in 2021.

Old pajamas, some plastic containers,  and a dress and skirt I  will donate - for starters.  Soon an old rug when I find one to replace it.

@rnmom

I'm ready to go this year with 3 boxes of donations from 2020 lingering in the back of my car.   Mostly household things, but some brand new Bomba socks that are just too tight after washing.

My local thrift has limited hours for donating, so those boxes are going out this coming week!

I need to continue to reorganize and purge this year and feeling inspired to do so.

Emptied the kitchen trash can this morning and every morning.  Used paper towels, food packages, stuff not worthy of reporting.

Seven boxes of purge mid-December to Purple Heart.  It will be a few months before I have more.

Re: Declutter 2021: What have you purged today?

I am purging as I organize.  I plan on organizing every space this coming year and I always start in January.  So far did my t shirt drawer and my lingerie drawer.  Did under the sinks and organized the Christmas stuff as I put away.

My car has boxes set up in back and as I go I put donated items in box and will take to donation places when full.  I sort them as to where they go.

I did the pantry before Xmas and took extra can goods, way too many for us, to church food pantry.  My husband can't pass up a bargain.

I started a little early but have the time off and do not go back until the 5th.  I'm not spending all my free time doing this but a little here and there.

Time to move out the appliances that never get used any more.

Re: Declutter 2021: What have you purged today?

Last night I had occasion to use a few of the markers I keep in my desk.  So decided to go through and test out all of the ones in the box.  I threw out several that are dried up.

This year I hope to do a lot of decluttering, but it will be a slow process.
