Brought some more stuff to Salvation Army over the weekend.
My goal is to lighten and brighten.
Like not like crazy or anything, just bringing in some more white and cream.
While also cleaning up the look.
Using the idea of less is more.
I like rearranging and decorating.
My husband is like "what are you doing with that now?".
(In other words, don't think about storing it in my garage.)

Let go of:
Donated: 2 long sleeve shirts, pair of sandals, 3 porch chairs ( got 2 new ones), so at least one less chair, ton of dvds given to library, a ton to go, various video game equipment.
Threw out a few T-shirt’s since they have seen better days or had little holes or stretched out. Some were not old. They just don’t make clothes like they use to.
I need to start organizing. My dining room is a mess. It is a catch all. And a few other places as well.
I need to just stop shopping.

Today a set of wind chimes went in the trash. The wind was a little too intense for them the other day and they broke.
That leaves me with one set, that my sister got me on a business trip to India. One is a perfect number though I do love wind chimes.

First day of September and I woke up in cleaning mode. Tossed books, clothes, gadgets...... that were too old to donate. I'm happy with the thrift store items I boxed up. It's important to me that they be like new (or still in the box). Will be donating:

The multi closet purge is complete.
Saved the smallest closet for last. Did not have to try on everything- I could tell by the size that things would be too big, especially from my huge collection of Linea items
Will go back up to the loft and bring down the donated clothes tomorrow. I still have a few things to try on this evening that I already brought downstairs. More Huggable Hangers to store in the basement for now. They will go in the next garage sale, whenever that will be.
It's good to know before the start of the seasonal wardrobe change just what I need, which at this time is nothing. That said, I could still be tempted by something on LTS. I willl try to keep my distance from Marshall's,which is less than 2 miles down the road.
I credit the number of rainy days this summer, including today, and weight loss for even starting this job during the summer, let alone completing it on September 1.
I will never own that many clothes ever again.

Also just went through 2 dresser drawers that I missed earlier this summer. Mostly gray pants. Kept some, purged some. That's enough purging for today!
Starting tomorrow: good weather through the Labor Day weekend. Last weekend for the pool, so I will be out relaxing & enjoying but as always following everyone's progress here.

@amyb - Ugh, I detest taking care of papers. Filing, shredding, it is so boring and I put it off all the time.

@KBEANS - Just be glad you got to stay home at all. I've had to work all thru the pandemic without any extra time off. Half the time I even worked more due to shortages.

That's partly why I'm holding onto more than I normally would. I never used to worry about replacing something if I got rid of it and then needed/wanted it again, but now I wonder if I will be able to get a replacement for something if I need it. Especially for essentials like shoes, clothes, kitchen items, etc.
I know that I've been super spoiled and that many generations before me often did without and made do, and I would if I had to, BUT, why get rid of something only to have to do without it in the future? Sometimes I just feel better keeping something extra.
I know it sounds crazy when we obviously have more than enough, but then I see all the empty shelves at the store too, so I'm not sure what to think.
@rnmom I don't find it "crazy" at all to feel as you do. And give yourself a break during these troubled times. (kinda like the effect the Great Depression had on our grandparents and parents) If you hold onto more now because of that, totally understandable. And your in and out system is good...much better than all in. Ok to replace items you still use with newer ones after the old one goes. And last..."every little thing DOES count!" It's by baby steps, consistently, big results come and new systems of upkeep are developed.
@amyb - Thank you for the kind words! It was nice to hear that!
