Re: DOes anyone have a granite kitchen sink?

We just had new granite counters put in and we also had a Blanco Silgranit sink installed.  We went with one large basin that is an undermount sink.

So far, I absolutely love it.  It is matte and the color we chose is called anthrocite.  The guy at the granite supplier tried to steer us away from that color claiming it would show all water marks, etc. but that couldn't be further from the truth.  It shows nothing.

Supposedly if you scrath it, the scratches buff right out as well.

DH and I had never heard of this type of sink and weren't sure what we were going to do because I knew I 100% didn't want a stainless sink.  However, we ended up ordering our sink from an online source called Home Perfect.  The sink was less than half what the places in our area wanted for it.  It came via FedEx in about 3 days and was perfect.

I would highly recommend it.

@KathyPet The decorator we had led me to a Blanco Silgranit sink (80% granite) when we upgraded the kitchen last summer.  It's been a year now, and I still love it. Mine is in the color 'cinder,' which is a dark gray.  It is very easy to clean -- just wash it down with hot soapy water each night after dinner.

Absolutely. Ours is Blanco, in Anthracite. We have a large single sink that is about 12 inches deep (undermounted). It's wonderful. Super easy to clean with hot soapy water. It shows nothing. I just love my sink.

We use our dishwasher, so a large, single sink works perfectly for us.

I really don't like a stainless sink at all and would never go back..

Re: DOes anyone have a granite kitchen sink?

I also want to go with a siligranit sink this coming spring when replacing my ugly stainless one in the kitchen.

I want a 60/40 blanco drop- in in a biscuit color (which is kind of cream color).  My countertops will be a darker with cream colored cabinets.

Does anyone on these forums have any experience owning a blanco sink in bisquit?  Just wondering if it will show stains...

@ptagirl  I have seen the biscuit sink in the showroom, and it is really pretty.  The website says it is "stain resistant."  I'd be particularly cautious with tomato or red wine based sauces and such.

Two items I highly recommend ordering at the time of your sink purchase:

1.  Make sure to get matching (to your sink color) sink flanges. It might cost a little more, but you will not regret it later.  They will give your sink a 'finished' look.

2.  Be sure to order a stainless sink rack for each bowl.  Again, it's more money; however, the protection they offer your sinks could prove to be a money saver in the long run.

Yes, it is black and I love it.  It is a breeze to clean.

I have already ordered and received the blanco sink baskets in chrome, as my faucet is chrome  I plan to order the sink within the next month.  I have been thinking about ordering the racks, though, as I think it'll definately protect from scratches, etc.

Do you have the racks?  Are they worth it, or are they a pain to keep clean...just wondering...thanks for your above reply..

@ptagirl  Yes on both fronts -- the racks can be a pain to keep clean (esp. on the disposal side) and they are worth it.  We initially only bought one (my double sink is a 60/40, I think they call it), but quickly saw the error of our ways and went back for the second one.

Your chrome baskets will look good with your faucet.  Our faucet is oil rubbed bronze, so I went with matching cinder baskets.

Good luck with your installation!  I sincerely hope you like it as much I do mine.   I've often said it was the best decision we made during the kitchen upgrade.
