Oh, my goodness. The "Hooked on Houses" blogger has brought us pictures of Doris's sunny home in Carmel-by-the-sea, plus a video walk-through prior to the auction of her things in April. I can only imagine the live auction will be postponed until safer times, but how lucky are we to get this preview and glimpse of her house!
Is this not EXACTLY how you picture Doris' house? The sunny yellow walls, the animals of course, bright flowers, practical, unpretentious touches like the stone floor and the collection of brooms and whisks!

Oh you'll go mad enjoying the video tour-- it all looks so much like "her". So much of interest, like Tony Bennett's artwork for her, and Rock Hudson's gift of a brass planter from Africa, with entwined elephants all around it. And her son Terry Melcher's gift of a red lacquer piano...
I love her light-filled, unpretentious dining room:

I'm a 'dusty' kind of Summer, "seasonally" speaking, but I've always pegged Doris as a vibrant "Spring", and the cheerful brights, the yellows and reds of her decor, kind of confirm it for me. Even down to her favorite field flowers, especially the gallant daisy that she loved...
Wait till you see the views.
