I'm just trying to do a simple DIY project. I'm recaulking my bathtub. Hubby is out of town, so I thought this would be a great weekend to do some easy, fix-up projects.
It took me all day yesterday to remove the old caulk and prep the area, making sure the area was completely dry. I put applied the caulk and used painter's tape to create a clean edge, however, I didn't pull it up quickly enough and the seam pulled up because it was beginning to set. I've spent the last 4 hours trying to remove tacky caulk- it's like removing buble gum from a caulk joint. It's almost ready to re-caulk, but now I'm not confident the same thing won't happen again.
Do any of you have any tried and true, surefire tips? Should I nix the painter's tape or not? I also have a shower door edge that has drainage hole about 1/2 inch above the caulk joint and I have to make sure I don't get caulk inside the holes. Help!!! I'm so frustrated and I've wasted too much time on what I thought was going to be a simple project.
