After running  my dishwasher,went to empty and saw water had not drained.JUST GREAT!Called landlord and of course he wanted to do everything the cheap way.I suggested that I could call the app.iance store where this was bought,pay for repair,and take off from my rent.You would of thought I asked him to stand on his head!He thinks he knows what part to purchase.Keep in mind,I use this appliance  at least 3 times a week. I'm hopping by the end of the week he will have fixed,but not holding my breath.I totally hate dealing with this guy so much

Not sure what advice I can offer.  You think the landlord is a pain in the rear and he prob thinks the same of the tenant.

Re: DISHWASER OUT OF COMMISION

How old is it?  Older than 5-8 yrs  an honest service guy will tell you replace it.

You could try cleaning around bottom screen to see if food is stuck there or run your garbage disposal to see if that helps.  Many old skool installations, the dw empty line emptied into the disposal.

It's time to pack and move.

It sounds like the water pump went out.  I have had many go out on me over the years.  It's a common problem and an easy fix.

I hope he doesn't procrastinate.  I hate doing dishes by hand....you have my sympathy.

@CoffeeNut

Not a great attitude for the landlord to have is it since the tenants essentially pay his mortgage.

@LuvsmyfamiI think it's time you seriously consider moving.   You have not been  happy there for a long time.

Try to look at the bright side....at least you have a landlord to call.   Homeowners have to deal with these problems on their own.   Also,  how many dishes can you have that it is a chore to wash them by  hand.   Have your grandson do them.

Re: DISHWASER OUT OF COMMISION

@CoffeeNut How many tenants do you know that pay 1 mo ahead on their rent?As far as I'm concerned,he is very lucky to have me here.Ive lived here 12 yrs,never ever been late with rent,and only call him if their is a major problem(like water heater leaking water dishwasher not draining,AC stopped working)HE has only been the owner for 2 yrs.

So,what do you think now?Have a awsome Tuesday

Re: DISHWASER OUT OF COMMISION

Even if you were in your own house with your own dishwasher it would be difficult to get a repair person out instantaneously.  Sometimes you have to wait.
