Actually she is not a minimalist, if you absolutely love everything you have then you keep it. You only get rid of the things that you don't absolutely love, and organize what is left.

I live in a very old house with tiny closets, so this has been a godsend where most of my clothes are now folded. I am never hunting for anything I know exactly where everything is. It actually saves me a lot of time.

@suziebee1  ThankYou-smiley.gif

New to me!  The things I learn from this message board.

I've never "folded."  Must be "new" school.    I was always taught to "roll" which is "old school."  No fancy name for "roll" either.  Oh, I forgot......gets fancy if you roll w/tissue paper. Smiley LOL

it really is not rocket science, I roll everything up except the things that I put on hangers. And those are the space saving hangers. I never used tissue.  I've been doing it so long it's simply a way of life.

I have done some decluttering and folding using the method.  I would love to have done it similar to what was shown on Netflix.  I was just never able to empty everything of clothes, for example.  It would be great if I could do it this summer.  That being said, I cleaned out a lot in a first sweep through.  And I did great with folding socks and underwear.  So much better!  I wish she had a video for folding, though.  That's hard to pick up just from watching the series.

Talking about stuff giving you joy seems shallow to me - kind of like a golden calf to idolize. Saying I like something makes more sense. I'm in favor of decluttering and plan to do another round in July.

There is a Konmari section on reddit that has a lot of good ideas. I also do her clothes folding method. Very easy and saves a ton of space.  Getting rid of things that no longer serve you really helps to free up space and use the things you really like/love/ brings joy to you.

She is not a minimilist. She had a show on Netflix and you can see that while people sorted through their things, they do not get rid of everything.

@Tadaki   If you go on youtube, I think you can find some of her lectures on there where she shows you how to fold clothes. I saw one that was interesting, but it was awhile back when her book came out.
