When I purchased my brand new house almost 20 yrs ago - I called California Closets to customize my large master bedroom walk-in closet. I also had a beautiful dresser installed - 5 drawers --- 3 for clothes and 2 jewelry drawers with locks. There are also several shelves above the dresser where I keep shoes. I also had a set of 2 tall cabinets put against the wall on one side of my garage -- each has 2 doors with handles. On the wall on the opposite side of my garage - I had open shelving installed. A female rep came to my house to do the design. I asked if there will be backing on the 2 tall cabinets in the garage - and she said YES!!! She then explained that the open cabinets on the opposite wall don't need backing. When the installer came and started to install the 2 tall cabinets, I noticed there wasn't any backing and I asked why. He said, it was supposed to be open in the back. I also realized that the female never asked me what I wanted - and she never gave me options or explained price differences. Everything was installed properly -- but I was disappointed in the rep.You can check out Yelp - and get people's opinions of companies they've used.
I do love having closets/garages customized -- I have so much more space and everything is organized.

California Closets would be the last company I would recommend.
For re-sale value their name means little anymore.
Their quality has really gone downhill while their price has soared. My friend used them about 3 yrs ago and her invoice was just under $17,000 and the material was ok the install was shoddy, to say the least. It looked like she and I installed it from a box kit that cost $1700
It was so disappointing I was upset for her.
Several other closets in her home were done by a local handyman and are gorgeous!!!!! The problem was he (the handyman) could not complete the project due to surgery and they needed the work done so they could move in, so in a bind, they went with CC for the remaining work. It was a shame. Till this day when I see her pantry I cringe.

$17,000 for what? The whole house and garage? The job was done by Calif. Closets almost 20 yrs ago and the price was fair - and the work was very good. Seems like the quality of everything has gone-downhill.
