Here it is for once and for all...the age-old answer as to how to mount your toilet paper. From the original patent so it MUST be correct.

I am usually constipated or have diarrhea and don't pay much attention to it. I am the only person who uses mine so in a hurry, sometimes I just take the whole roll from the basket. i don't care which way it's going. I don't have time to even think about it.

That was always fine for me, until I had cats. Then I had to do the opposite, otherwise, they weren't happy until they destroyed a whole roll of paper!!!!

@Krimpette we spent many years with our toilet paper and paper towel rolls inside our cabinets
out of our many cats over decades we had only 1 that loved this more than even jumping into an empty box like our others

I guess we have been lucky. In 50+ years of cat ownership we have never had a TP shredder!
But we do hang it the correct way!

@We rescue cats how we hung our tp or towels made no difference to that 1 cat he would just dig in with his teeth and start pulling and tearing it

Wait til you hear "this one"... My ma insisted the "tail" of the tp should be against the vanity.
When she visited other people's homes, she actually went in their bathrooms and changed the tp to "her" REGULATIONS...

@Desertdi. She wasn't timid, was she?

My housekeeper does that. I would prefer she spend a little more time cleaning around the toilet rims in the other bathrooms than worrying about my toilet paper etquette. Unless my gardener comes in to use the laundry room bathroom, it never gets used. He rarely comes in to use it. I forget to flush it everyday. It builds up mold and she doesn't clean it properly. The powder room is rarely used now that we don't have guests very often since DH is so sick. So it does the same. Toilets that are not flushed frequently do that. She does not clean adquately to dispose of it. I go in there after she leaves and frequently I can see little black dots. I have told her and told her, but I admit there is not anyone I can find who does any better according to those for whom they work. Since she only comes once a week or sometimes only once a month (she has many mini vacations) she needs to pay closer attention.

DEFINITELY not timid. You should have heard her grill my high school boyfriends. Her first question to them always was, "How much does your father make?"
I finally learned to get around that by telling the guys ahead of time, "Honk the horn in the driveway, and I'll be right out".
