Re: Could You Live in a Convent?

Convent?

Phffft....I’m sure they wouldn’t let me in! 🙃

And I would get nervous during lightning storms! Hee.

The space is grandiose but it looks cold...

figuratively -and- literally. And even though the rooms have

vaulted ceilings, the doorways look dangerously low!

An amazing space for history/architecture-type buffs.

AS the saying goes.....its a nice place to visit but wouldn't want to live there.

My sister actually bought and lives in a convent in our home town. It's nothing like the convents in the pictures here. My sister and her husband renovated the place and they like it, but I don't like anything about the place.

Yes, I could.  At least part of the year.  Assuming I would not have to clean it.  I love ancient structures of all types.  Not all nuns were harsh with kids, remember.  I wonder if this was a cloister in its day.  Any religious energy is good energy for me.

No.  The warm inviting outside belies the cold austere inside that cannot be warmed.

The convent in our childhood parish looked like a really big brick colonial house, so I could see someone buying and renovating it. Deciding what to do with the chapel could be tricky, though.

@bmorechick

Same here...60's & very early 70's...my hands met those rulers many a time.  And all the other punishment assignments doled out until I got out!  Enough was enough & turned me off on all organized religions after that.  Lol!

But I would still live in this building in a heartbeat...as long as no nuns ever showed up to visit!  Lol!

Yes, I could live in that convent. It’s been beautifully done.  On another note, I’ve known several nuns who were amazing women of faith and love.

This is amazing! I imagine the style and decor is quite appropriate for Tuscany. Could I live there? I'm not sure, but it's wonderful what they've done with it!
