Convert-A-Bench

If anyone has one or a pair of these benches (which convert to a picnic table), do they just scream "plastic"? I thought if I purchased this product, I would put a larger-sized plant on each end and a couple of pillows on the bench(es) to detract from the plastic look. Any thoughts? HSN and Wal-Mart sell them and both places sold out early in the season last year. TIA.
