Comforter choices

I want to surprise my son and his girlfriend with one that fits their new king bed but I was wondering what is current with the 20 something crowd.They are in an apartment with the typical beige walls so color is not a problem.I wonder if plain or stripes Paisley,floral abstract or something else?I am hoping they will love it.
