Re: Colorful Reading/Sitting Area

Get rid of the rug and ugly green ottoman, the garish books (did they buy them for the ugly colors of the binding?), and some of the accessories that don't go.  Tone down the accessories and add a few traditional touches like lamps and a nice coffee table or ottoman (maybe a light leather ottoman), and you could have something nice.

The blues and the peaches are nice.  I might paint the bookshelves a glossy dark blue the color of the sofa--maybe that color only a shade darker, mix in a little more black.  I saw some that color recently and they were fabulous.

Don't care for the rug, ottoman, print on chairs or the two different colored doors.

I don't like the accent chairs, rug, or paint color of the doors; I'd have to find another way to pull the sofa & table together in the room.  It's too much for me.

I thought the exact same when I saw the picture.

@lolakimono, I like the room, especially the bookcases, but I don't like the chairs.

I really like this room...it looks homey to me...yes, maybe they did buy their furniture at Goodwill or the thrift store, but that's life sometimes.....It just speaks to me.....

The sofa is OK.   This must be a "before" picture.

If this were mine, I would transform the room by replacing all the furniture, eliminate that carpet and as well as the ceiling, and the light fixtures, and change the color of the walls.

NO, NO, NO.  I don't like all the different colors together that do not, IMO, look good together.  Cat Tongue

What's with the two doors in different colors! The room would probably look a lot calmer without those two crazy chairs.

@jannabelle1

I think the light from the window is making the door on the left seem lighter.  I believe they are both the same color.
