When I went to Kiev inthe 80's, the homes were very colorful,  but they were lighter pastel colors.   Still remember how beautiful they were.

@Pezzie   Wouldn't it be fun to choose your own color scheme?  I like the turquoise house in the front row.

They are wonderful, @Kachina624 !   Those quaint, narrow houses in brilliant colors, an evocation of "old Europe" in the venerable port city of Gdansk.  They look like they should have cobblestone streets...

@Oznell. Makes you wonder how this got started, doesn't it?  One upmanship maybe?

I imagine cobblestones are involved.

The photo reminds me of some neighborhoods in San Francisco.

Beautiful but it doesn't look real.

My grandparents on both sides were born in Poland.  My one grandma (babchi) talked about the old world neighborhoods when we were kids. She came here at age 12.  Needless to say, they all moved into rowhouses in Baltimore City in the early part of the  20th. century because it reminded them of "the old country".  Had the cobblestone streets too. Just beautiful, but their homes were plain brick in Baltimore.  Not these beautiful colors.  But they painted their doors vibrant colors and had the painted window screens too.  Miss that.

@Kachina624 , this reminds me of St. John's, Newfoundland.  They have an area called 'Jellybean Row'.
