Color of trim doors

My wall color is like coffee with lots of cream in it. I have chocolate trim. But is is a bit dark. Due to vaulted ceilings, I don't want to paint the walls right now.

I am thinking of changing the trim & door color to a cream. Do you think it would help brighten up the place?

I have a townhome-so there are only windows on one side of each room.
