I only have one real collection and that is metal horses from the 40's and 50's, they are mostly copper colored. I no longer actively collect, but I enjoy what I have.

I've always been a horse nut and loved those metal horses but never got one. Now I have about 30 horses from "The Trail of the Painted Ponies". Professional artists were given life size fiberglass horses to decorate, then they made miniatures. The originals were auctioned for charity.

I collect figural teapots and have them in bookcases, on shelves, and wherever else I can find a spot for them. I actually stopped buying them for myself several years ago due to lack of space - but I still receive some as gifts. Love the whimsical nature of them .... Looking at them makes me smile and brightens up several corners of my home. Also used to collect Fenton fairy lights, but when I realized that I had gone overboard and had way too many that would never find a place outside of my storage closet, I sold most on EBay - just keeping a few favorites. And btw morning glory - the Fenton gift shop is still occasionally selling some limited edition large alley cats. You can look up their number online and call snd ask to be put on their email list to be notified if more become available.

Thank You!! I didn't know I could still add to my collection of Alley Cats from Fenton.

I will call them and see if they would put me on the mailing list. I watch for them in antique shops but don't go to those kind of places very often so haven't found any since Fenton closed and I am not much of an Ebay shopper. I would prefer to buy from the factory.

I think that ebay has ruined collecting for profit. It is too easy to get pieces. It is easy to find them and they are plentiful, and ebay and the recession played a big role in this. The other factor is the move toward more minimalist décor, with less objects on display. The wealthy are still collecting artwork and there is a surge in Oriental antiques, as the Chinese acquire more wealth and desire pieces representative of their history. I have no knowledge of coin and stamp collecting, so someone else might enlighten us on those collectibles. For me, I collected shells, but lost interest in them, and now I want to deal with less clutter.
