Re: Coffee Table, Yes or No?

I think it just depends on the room.  I try to have logical places to set a drink, next to seating, in my "living" rooms, but a piece I bought as a "coffee" table in a former home is now a TV stand.

I also consider traffic flow in the room, and the now-TV-stand would get in the way in the room I use it in, if I had it by the chaise (sofa replacement), in a more traditional arrangement.

No, I do not have one nor do I think they are necessary.

Re: Coffee Table, Yes or No?

I have one, that I put my drink on etc. I would never put one in front of a couch.

Re: Coffee Table, Yes or No?

We have a coffee table in the formal living room, so that guests have a place to put their drinks, etc.  We do not have a coffee table in the family room. We don’t feel it’s needed there. Now that you asked, most of my relatives and friends have the same set-up - they have coffee tables in the room they entertain in, but not in their family areas.

Re: Coffee Table, Yes or No?

I have to have something to put my feet on, so for our L-shaped pit group, we have a round coffee table.  Also, in our front room, we have an oblong coffee table that my dad built for me.  It has drawers with a glass top where I can display various things.

Yes, we have always had something in front of the sofa either big or small. We have a 1950's ranch so we have one living room only. No family room.

Re: Coffee Table, Yes or No?

When I remodeled about 12 yrs ago I eliminated the den that wasn’t being used much.I moved my formal dining room into that space. This allowed me to double my living room.I have a 70 inch t.v.,a recliner, a fireplace, a bar & a beautiful leather sectional with a glass top coffee table for drinks & snacks. No end tables.

Re: Coffee Table, Yes or No?

I don't have a coffee table.  I sold mine at a garage sale at least 5 years ago.   I never had one in my family room, only the more formal living room.  I always hated that table sitting in front of the couch.  We don't use that room a lot but when we did, I would never put my feet up on the coffee table and neither would anyone else.

I like the more non-traditional coffee tables people have now but I don't want one.  Doesn't really work with my space or my dogs.
