Re: Coastal Bedroom: Your Thoughts?

I live in a cottage on a lake in upper MI. I have it furnished in cottage/coastal/shabbychic look. So I suppose you all wouldn't like my rooms either. I don't care for the look of either of the photos shown. The first one is too cluttered! But I love the look of my home and everyone that visits is always asking who our decorator was! Lol it was me! Woman Happy

Re: Coastal Bedroom: Your Thoughts?

I picture a coastal look with shades of sea glass greens and blues. With light shades for the woods - like driftwood or white.

To me a coastal look would be best kept uncluttered and light.

And, maybe a splash of either orange or yellow to represent the sun.

I'd take the first over the second, but wouldn't want a porthole for my window.

I like the room and the furniture, but not the lamps for some reason.....

I don't like theme rooms, you know fish and shells in the bathroom, coffee pot wallpaper in the kitchen - things like that.

Re: Coastal Bedroom: Your Thoughts?

I got a Pier One catalog in the mail yesterday. They had a pretty, subtle coastal bedroom setup (light grey headboard, blue floral bedding) followed by a couple of pages of coastal accent pieces.

love it.....we do these themes at our condo at the beach. i could not do it at our home inland though.

the first one you posted is gorgeous @lolakimono. the second one does not say beach to me at all.

it is so much fun to do rooms in this theme. i can never stop buying little beach themed accessories to go on the shelves, in the bathrooms, in the kitchen, or on the bar. it is definitely a weakness of mine.

love turquoises, corals, off white, whites, sand......one of our bedrooms is done in this color scheme.

the other bedroom is done more in a nautical theme and in darker colors...... navys, white, browns, tans.

Re: Coastal Bedroom: Your Thoughts?

I think the first bedroom looks very "furniture showroom" so I don't care for it.  The second one I just don't care for on many levels.

I do like coastal very much though, even though it can sometimes be a little hokey.

@faeriemoon, that's why I like the first one - it looks like a showroom.  LOL
