i have been using shout out for years and cooking oil stains don't always come out. i started  pretreating oil stains with dawn and leaving them over night then washing clothes in morning. stains come out really well. if colored clothes i wash with warm water and white clothes with hot water. just thought i would pass this tip along everyone.

I've always used Dawn on any kind of stain on clothing since my son was a baby (he's 26 now). It works on oil stains, underarm deodorant stains causing the yellowing on clothing, and collars of shirts. I use an old toothbrush with any kind of Dawn (doesn't have to be the blue kind) and scrub a bit. Everything comes out with just one wash. 😁

Learned this tip years ago, for getting out oil, works wonders every time...baby powder!  Dowse the item with it on the stain, let it sit for a while...it absorbs the oil (depending how much oil, sometimes you can see the oil start to come through as it's lifting, but even if you don't see it, it's working.) Then brush it off. Usually stain comes right off with first try, but if not, just reapply and repeat.  I've never had an oil stain not come out with baby powder. I carry it in my car, or in tote bags (for those restaurant spots, you don't have to wait to go home or wash things.)  Important--- Don't wet spot first!...just immediately baby powder it.  If you wet it it might come out later, but usually the water will decrease the effectiveness.

**Edit...oops, just read through more of the comments and see someone else mentioned this...well, I second it! Smiley Happy

Re: Cleaning vinegar and Dawn

I keep a bottle of Dawn on the shelf above the washer, as I tend to be a grease magnet.   I ruin lots of shirts with grease stains.

Another trick for oil stains in clothing, is to use baby or talcum powder. It absorbs the oil. Then I usually pre-treat with Shout. I use the vinegar and Dawn to clean my shower floor.

@tucsongal I use Blue Dawn and vinegar to clean my glass shower doors and tiles on the wall. At the $$$ Store I buy this scrubber that holds the cleaner in the handle and it come out through the scrubber on the end.

The vinegar/Dawn/spray bottle thing is more for household cleaning (soap scum, in particular.  Regular Dawn and foaming Dawn are great for greasy laundry stains.

@Pooky1

This is my "go-to" for stain removal.  I realized after a couple of hours that I had splilled grape juice on my blouse.  Took it to the sink immediately, spread this wonderful stuff on it, rubbed it in and...voila! Gone!  Never fails.

I used to get a lot of stains on my clothes from cooking. Now I wear a bib apron and that issue is solved. When I do have a greasy stain I find that just putting a drop of Dawn on it as soon as I take it off then throw it in the laundry. When I wash it , the stains usually come out. Another good product from the Dollar tree is awesome. Put it on the stain , then wash.
