Cleaning a humidifier

I bought a personal-sized humidifier last year from Walgreens and no longer have the instructions on how to clean it. It doesn't have a filter. A plastic bottle is inserted upside down and the water drips into the reservoir. I can't see that it comes apart. I was thinking of just putting in a bottle of vinegar, but I welcome any other advice before I do that.
