Re: Cleaning Tools, Does Color Really Matter?

It is funny when you think about it!  It usually really doesn't matter.  However for some (like me) certain colors make me feel better when doing a chore that I don't really feel like doing.

Plus it looks nice when things coordinate even if I'm the only one who is looking into my broom closet, etc.

No. The color doesn't matter. I'd have preferred they skip the six buck shipping cost on a couple of light-weight microfiber dusters but since they didn't, I didn't order.

I like to have a color choice "just because". It makes me smile that I have pink, blue or whatever as I'm cleaning.

It matters to me...I don't like to clean so I use a color I like to get the job done.

I dislike cleaning and no color is going to make me like it.  It could be encrusted with diamonds. lol

Re: Cleaning Tools, Does Color Really Matter?

Yes, color matters to me because I use specific colors to clean different areas of my house. For example, my bathroom cleaning tools and towels are yellow...my kitchen cleaning towels are blue. For me it's about preventing cross-contamination. Dusters not so much.

I'll buy anything if it comes in turquoise.

I always find it amusing in a sort of light-hearted way, that they offer different colors in these utilitarian objects.  I can't really explain why, but when David earnestly launches into his color recitations, it seems sort of endearingly innocent and cute.

Harmless fun, and I think @LizzieInSRQ , you are really on to something with the idea of it stimulating sales...

Re: Cleaning Tools, Does Color Really Matter?

Color choice can encourage you to move you one step closer to buying the product.

The idea is that it opens a dialogue in your head about the product: which color would I choose if I were to buy it?

You think to yourself: Ok hypothetically, I would pick the blue one.

Now your potential purchase has actually advanced a little because you’ve taken a moment to actually think about buying the product and how it would fit in your life. You’ve made a personalized connection and decision. The blue one is ‘yours’.

Maybe you just go on to dismiss the idea altogether but maybe your interest has been piqued because you’ve now made a connection to the blue one in your brain. That’s the one for me. You can picture it in your home.

Sometimes that little push can be enough to get you over the hump and make the sale.
