I do not understand what assistance some of you get in cleaning from a website. I walk around my house in the morning after breakfast and tidy up whatever needs tidied - I am certainly capable to figure out for myself when I look at something that is dirty that I need to clean it. If i see something that is dirty I don't wait until some website tells me it is the day to clean it - when I notice it needs cleaned, I clean it. It seems to me that the time spent on a website being told how to clean would be better spent actually doing the cleaning.

What a ray of sunshine!

Really, I agree. Obviously there's a real lack of empathy there. Funny that some people feel so superior to others, for so little reason.

People are different. Some are just more internally organized, others need a little help.

I used to be one of the former, now if I don't reign myself in and make lists and mentally organize, I get easily distracted and don't accomplish what I need to.

I don't use any "apps", but if it works for some I think it's a good idea. Whatever works.

Yes, but some of us are imperfect, obviously. Right?

Some of the cleaning and organizing sites can be helpful. My weekly cleaning doesn't take long because I'm not real fussy and I keep clutter under control. I just make sure the house looks good enough so that if the doorbell rang, I could open the door without making excuses for how messy the house was.

I use the Motivated Moms Chore List and it has really changed my life and home. I found it about 4 years ago and I've never looked back. As long as I do the tasks assigned to the day, my home is always guest ready and I never have to do a full house clean or a spring cleaning. I just have a clean home every day.

I used to use the printed e-books but since last year switched over to the app. Both are great although the app is customizable so I decided to go that route.

www.motivatedmoms.com

I'm not affiliated with the company, just a very happy customer. Before Motivated Moms I struggled with getting everything done. Now it's not an issue.

Looking at the site but I am not seeing a sample of what it is. Maybe I have to download it first? Do you use the E-Book or the app? TIA

I now use the app. I used to use the e-book. I printed out the pages and kept them in a binder on my counter. It also served as my calendar. In the morning, I would just flip the page to the new day and that would be my checklist for the day. Some tasks are the same every day, such as "Make beds," but some tasks occur only weekly or every two weeks.

Here's an example of what a daily chore list looks like:

Monday Jan 6 2014

Change towels in bathrooms
Empty trash
Exercise - Cardio
Quick tidy in each room
Quiet time
Sweep/vacuum kitchen, entry and living room.
Vacuum main/public rooms or 1st floor
Feed pets
Take vitamins/medication

Bathrooms
Change hand towels in bathrooms
Clean toilets
Replenish stock of toilet paper in bathrooms
Wipe down bathroom sinks, vanities and toilets.

Bedrooms
Make beds

Family Room
Mop living room
Vacuum furniture in family/living room

Kitchen
Clean kitchen sink
Clean middle shelf of refrigerator
Clear/Wipe kitchen counters
Inventory refrigerator contents and plan meals around leftovers
Load/Run/Empty dishwasher
Plan/Cook dinner
Change dishcloth/towel

Utility Room
Clean cat litter
Do laundry

Thank you! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

I havent seen chessylady respond, I hope you return and let us know whst ideas worked. I had a lazy Sat, so today Sun. I cleaned my kitchen/FR floors and my 2.5 bath. I have 1 left. Just pick a room and see how much you can get done. The hardest thing for me is seeing the tracks in my slider need cleaning, but it is hard for me to take on something not in my mind originally. I am afraid I will get tired or run out of time. I need to make an extra list to tackle during the week.

Not everyone is so self motivated. I hate to clean. I know what's dirty, just hate to clean it. If I can find some inspiration somewhere, anywhere, I will take it. Even threads like these I find inspiring. Different strokes.

I want to thank everyone for your tips. I seem to get the minimum done but have trouble tackling bigger jobs like windows or baseboards. Like many today, my attention span is short. Also my Mother used housework like a punishment. She also thought her way was the right way even though she herself was not the best housekeeper. I tend to rebel against housework even though I enjoy a clean house. So I thought if I could get a good routine going, it would be easier.

Well, I have flat surface itis. Anywhere there is a flat surface I will put stuff. Does anyone know a cure for this? This makes lots of piles, since I need to "see" stuff to remember it.

I also have to much stuff. I have been decluttering, but I still have a ways to go. Clutter really does make it hard to actually clean.

Then there's the ADD part where I think that I should mop the bathroom floor, but after I'm done washing my hands, that thought has vanished until the next time that I am in there.

So yes, a list to remind me would be very helpful.

I wish I knew the cure for this as my DH has the same syndrome - he can't stand that I actually put things away in drawers and cupboards and he has to actually open a drawer or a cupboard door to access them. You'd think the millisecond that it takes to open a drawer was going to kill him.Left to his own devices everything we own would be sitting out on every surface in the house. He refuses to allow the housekeeper to clean his den - you can't imagine that room - piles of total krap all over the floor etc.I just keep the door closed! He seems to feel better when surrounded by clutter - i am the opposite - I feel at peace when my surroundings are tidy and clean. I fear if I die before him he will live like those hoarders on TV.

I agree that clutter makes it difficult to keep the house tidy and difficult to clean. If I no longer use something I either give it away, or toss it. My husband likes clutter, but he was raised that way. I also keep the door to his den closed. It is difficult living with a hoarder/clutterer.
