Re: Classic Window Treatments

So many of my windows have curtains purchased from Country Curtains.  Most are just valances, cafe types in bathrooms, and only full length curtains in our MBR.  They are timeless and wear like iron.

Glad to see Vermont Country Store picked up the business after Country Curtains closed.

Re: Classic Window Treatments

I used to be a curtain person back when my preferences leaned toward more tradtional decor.  As my tastes have changed over the years, I prefer attractive, functional and "simple" window treatments that don't cover up my woodwork.  I have Roman shades throughout the house.

Back in the day I used to shop from Country Curtains as well as local curtain stores.

Re: Classic Window Treatments

I always liked perusing the Country Curtains catalogs but never bought much from them. My window coverings have tended toward being pretty simple: sheers, shades, blinds, roman blinds and so on. Country Curtains could be sort of pricey for non-custom and I can only imagine even more so under the Vermont Country store, which has always seemed sort of high.

Re: Classic Window Treatments

My living room and dining room country curtains are a shear white panel with small designs. There are two panels, one on each side of the bow window in LR and a panel on each side on the bay in the DR. They don't move, they are just there for looks. Light and airy. There are pull down white shades for the evening.

Re: Classic Window Treatments

I also switched long ago from the lace and ruffle type window treatments.  In the living and dining room I have plain silk panels that are from Country Curtains, when open they just fade into the matching color of my walls.  It seemed as if they were finally getting more current shortly before they stopped doing business and I ordered roman shades that are plain with a Greek key trim for our kitchen and pantry.

Re: Classic Window Treatments

In my previous home I had Country Curtains in my living room (which we used as a study) and connected dining room.  They were not frou frou at all.  In the study the curtains were full length toile -beige background with black toile.  In the dining room the curtains were beige panels with satin stitched one inch dots.  I also used their sheers.

Country Curtains was out of business when I moved into my current home so I went with custom drapes and shades.
