Re: Christmas tree out already!

Of course I agree that people can and should do as they like. For me, though, bringing the holidays up so early dilutes them. Halloween is such fun and Thanksgiving is one of the loveliest ideas for a holiday anywhere. I'd hate to lose them in the rush to bring on Christmas early.  We need patience, reflection, and time for real anticipation. Naturally, QVC will never look at it this way. But look at what happens when we spread out events to unheard-of levels. Take our presidential election, for example. Whereas most other countries have an election cycle of a couple of months, here in the U.S. it's turning into a couple of years. It's too much!

My tree will go up a few days after Halloween. I do a large Dickens style Christmas Village and it takes awhile to get it set up.....christmas20141.jpg

What an absolutely gorgeous Christmas display!!!  How do you light all the houses in the village (batteries??)  Your holiday display could easily be pictured in a Better Homes and Garden Christmas edition.   Beautiful!!

Fun, fun, fun!!!

I wait until November, but believe me, there are some days when I'd LOVE to take my tree out and look at all of those beautiful colors and lights.  Today would be one of those days.  It's a dark, windy, and rainy day...

Is this picture your actual home? It is fabulous!

We should all make a field trip and help you set up, then spend a cozy evening with treats and drinks to enjoy such a beautiful home!

What a stunning  display you created!  I personally know the amount of time and work that it takes to put something like thisl together. I did a large original snowvillage for many years throughout my home as I had about 60 buildings.  Lots of work but oh so much enjoyment when it was done.  This was before the battery items were available to light up these buildings.

You have a beautiful home and how wonderful you are to share this with us.

Re: Christmas tree out already!

I started puting out Halloween MG pumpkins last year in early September, because I started buying new stuff.  I didn't want to put it away and have to bring it back out in a few weeks.  I was kind of concerned that any visiting friends would think I was odd for having that stuff out so early.  I'm pretty sure if I put Christmas decor up in August, they would institutionalize me.  I think it's great, though.  I love my Christmas decor, and think it's sad that it only gets to be enjoyed for a couple months.  To each his own!

Thank you everyone!! It is all electric...I have it on 3 different circuits so I don't burn the house down.....I also have them on the remotes you buy at Target, so I can just light the tree and the houses under it....#2 remote lights up the houses in the window and remote#3....the  rest. After all these years I have it all down to a science.....LOL

We have lived in this house for 35 years and I just got that bow window 5 years ago. I have wanted to put one in for a long time, but waited until we could afford to do it the way I wanted.....so worth the wait.
