Since we are celebrating Christmas in July both on Q and the Hallmark channel, I thought I'd take a poll on what type of tree people prefer.

Is your tree(s) more of a theme or specific color scheme or do you have an eclectic life long collection of different style ornaments.

I tend to do one of each. I have a smaller tree in the family room that is usually done with the Thomas Pacconi hand blown ornaments that Q used to sell. It looks rather vintage, and I'd prefer it to have colored lights, but my husband bought the tree at an auction, brand new in the box, prelit with white for only $1. It is the perfect size, shape and style so white lights it is!

In the living room we have a bigger tree, and it has a variety of ornaments from my childhood, my kid's, our vacations, gifts from people through the years etc. He got that tree for the same price at the same auction, brand new in the box as well, with prelit white lights.

We really hit the jackpot with those trees, as our old one was so tattered. I see the pretty trees on Q and am so tempted, but these were so nice and so 'affordable' I just can't justify a new one at this time.

So, what is your Christmas tree decorating style?

QVC hosts would have heart attacks over the tree in my family home. (I always visit my parents for Christmas and never get a tree myself.) It's covered in every ornament we've ever had or made. There's no theme, no color scheme, no cohesion. Poor Jill or Lisa R would fall over dead at the sight of it.

We only have one tree & it's a slim-line tree so it does not take up a lot of room. My ornaments are a life lonf collection of all different kinds of ornaments. That's what I like. I also like the colored lights vs the white. I have a few pics so you can see some of my ornaments. The tree looks odd because I forgot to put on the garland first so I left it off. It was a pain trying to get it on after I put on all the ornaments & I did not want to break any of them. I have some that are homemade, some from Avon, Lenox, Radko, Hallmark, Precious Moments etc.

Your tree looks very much like our living room tree! I do so enjoy sitting in the evening, and looking at all those memories collected over the generations. It isn't the most designer looking tree, but the sentiment more than makes up for it in my eyes each year.

Last year, I didn't do my living room tree, and that was the first time ever. I'm so looking forward to getting those keepsakes back out this year, as I really did miss them.

I always have to wonder if they secretly have a tree just like that in their home, but just never admit to it!

My green tree in the living room is Victorian.  I use colors of cream, mauve, pink, brown, off white, red and gold in decor selected over many years.

My white tree in the family room is decorated with items I've purchased or received as gifts over many years.

The tree we decorate at my mother's house where our family celebrates Christmas is covered in an eclectic mix of globes and a few other shapes, but they are all in the same color family from palest pink to deepest rose with a bit of gold mixed in.  There a few ornaments from my childhood and a few commemorative type ornaments tucked into the branches as well. We also use poinsettias, tapestry ribbon, gold bead garland and icicles.  The tree looks a little different each year, but has basically used the same decorations for 20 years or so.

I have a large collection of Old World Christmas ornaments. Actually, very large. I have to laugh. Do not ask me how we get them all on one tree - it literally takes us hours to decorate one tree. I still manage to buy a few or get a few as gifts every year though - I MUST stop, or buy another tree!! My tree is gorgeous though and always gets complimented on. My tree is my main focal point for Christmas decorating as I do not care for a lot of clutter with smaller items. My husband can not believe how much money I have invested in my ornament collection , but he always says our tree is beautiful! And - I agree! Oh, and I am just kidding myself here - I will probably never stop buying them as long as they continue to make them!! So - I guess perhaps Christmas tree shopping will eventually have to happen...

I used to put the tree up every Christmas but we go to Fl quite a bit at Christmas. Last year we were in Fl so I did not put it up. I think we will be home this year so looking forward to putting it up with all my other decorations. It takes a long time unboxing all the ornaments & boxing them back up after Christmas.

When our kids were small, we had a fresh tree with old fashioned lights, tinsle, red bows, and a mixture of purchased ornaments, some dated & sentimental, and the kids' craft ornaments made at school.  When they got a little older, we had two trees; a "pretty tree" in the living room and a "kids tree" in the family room.  The pretty tree was fresh for a few years, but then we bought a beautiful pre-lit artificial tree from Costco.  It had white lights.  My decorations were white and gold - an assortment of metal snowflakes, music notes, and angels that I had made, along with gold beads.  Once the kids became adults, we discontinued the kids tree.  Last year I was feeling very nostalgic and bought a silver aluminum tree, rotating tree stand, color wheel, and new red, green, and gold metal-look ornaments.
