I truly enjoy watching both Chip and Joanna, and I have recorded their new show about renovating that adorable castle.  I cannot wait to find the time to watch the first two episodes this weekend.

I love that they project happy couple and happy family vibes.  There is way too much negativity in the world today, and I am truly glad they have shows on their own network, now, no less, that help me to relax and unwind after a long day. They are two very talented home renovators, in my opinion, and I never tire of watching them revamp and beautify homes inside and out. I find them an adorable couple.

This home forum has mostly been a fun place to come for decent conversation. I must say, I'm sorry to see people saying some very negative things about designers and decorators.

Describing people in negative hurtful ways.......

people that we don't even know personally, is just so wrong.  It makes coming here to the Home topic less enjoyable....at least for me it does.

If you have ever had someone do this to you, perhaps you would understand just how utterly hurtful some of these comments can be. This has happened to me in real life and I can't begin to tell you how much it hurts to be judged and lied about  when the facts are simply not true.

Thankfully, I've learned through it all, just to be concerned about what God thinks of me and not people. I have read about the damage and hurt these kind of comments have caused in others (Joanna for one) lives and I hurt for them.  Hopefully, this won't become a forum to discuss what we don't like about people and we can stick to the fun stuff.

@jubilant  Perhaps the difference between this thread and most others in the 'home' forum is that this one focused upon the personalities and not on a 'product'. Even the title's focus is the Gaines', not their work. They are a polarizing couple. A lot of folks like them and their work and a lot of folks don't. That's just reality. Maybe had the thread featured photos and/or discussion of what they've done with the 'castle' there might have been more of a focus on the decorative choices they made, but as it stands, the focus remained on them. There were no images of work done on the castle, nor direction of where to find more information about the castle, so there was no potential for that to be the focus, despite the OP's stated intent. Given that, it was probably to be expected that there would be both praise and criticism of them versus the work done of the castle. I would also suggest that it is possible for one not to care for either them or their work without it being a matter of 'jealousy'.

@stevieb   I agree that some people will like them and some won't but to shed a bad light on people you really don't know is not fair and hitting below the belt.  There were several "low blows"  delivered here about the Gainse's.  Do you realize how many people they have helped and given a chance to? Do you realize the hurt and damage that can be done to a person by word of mouth? I was just sorry to see it come to the Home forum.

@jubilant  I think we both appreciate each other enough for me to simply say that on this one, we'll have to agree to disagree. When personalities come up on these or any forum, there's going to be discussion and some of it's not going to be agreeable to everyone. I'd also most sincerely doubt either of them is going to be impacted by anything said here. Smiley Wink

Her farmhouse style is becoming passe. Don't get mad at me people. You have a right to decorate your home anyway you want. I'm just stating the fact that it's on its way out. It will soon be harder to find your Live Love Laugh signs in the stores.

She is quite capable of decorating in many styles and in fact appears to be leaving a lot of her farmhouse renovations behind.  I'm noticing a lot more color and more sophisticated design elements in her recent work.
