If your filter has no dust then I would definitely have your furnace checked out, it should have some dust on it.  Where is the dust going?  it has to go somewhere.

@Imaoldhippie   i was thinking about that too. it is a heat pump and never had that before and dont know much about it. if it is like this in a couple months i will have it looked at!

 

 

 

i feel like changing a filter too often seems like a big waste of a filter!

My filters are changed at the three month mark.  I use Filtrate I believe.  They should last 3 months depending on what type you buy.

Mine gets changed yearly during the heater tune-up. It's in a location where the heater body pretty much has to be disassembled to get access to it. It's not a user-serviceable part on my heater.
