Does anyone have a carpet steamer  (not a carpet cleaner/shampooer) - to refresh your carpets?  I swear years ago QVC sold a HAHN steamer to refresh carpets and I think it was also used on hard surfaces, there may have been different pads for different uses....does anyone recall this item or have one, if so....do you like it?  Thanks!

Re: Carpet Steamer, not cleaner

I have a Monster floor steamer.  It is for hard floors or carpet.  It has a carpet slide that clips onto the bottom to put a small distance between the carpet and the pad so that the plastic piece glides over the carpet.  I bought it specifically for my kitchen/baths and my carpet because I have cats and want to freshen the carpet without cleaning it with a "wet" cleaner.  I do use baking soda before I vacuum to help with pet odors.  I've had it for years, but see similar ones on Amazon.  Just make sure it has a carpet glide/slide with it.

I have the Hahn.  I think I've used the carpet/upholstery accessory once in 10 years.

I do use the steamer on the floor as needed.

The Bissell steamer I just bought has instructions that state you can "steam & refresh" rugs.  It came with a fragrance disc.

I wouldn't use it for this but one can.

@homedecor1...thanks....as one of the posters mentioned, did yours come with a 'glide' for carpet?

I can't understand how a carpet steamer could possibly benefit a carpet.  It can't remove dirt or odors so what will you have, hot dirt?  Seems like moistening carpet with hot steam would enhance odors, similar to what happens on a hot humid day.  Sounds like some hype to sell more steamers.

Oooopsss!  Sorry not made for steaming carpets🙄I read it wrong.

I assume it would made rugs damp like the floors are -- but floors dry quickly.  I'd be afraid of dampness would cuz "mold".

Perhaps Stanley Steemer or a commercial company streams rugs. I've never heard of this

I remember the appliance you are talking about.  I haven't heard about steaming carpets in a long time so perhaps they decided that feature wasn't the greatest.  I remember you could do floors and carpets if you attached a gizmo onto the steamer.

I 'think' it was meant to  refresh, bring up the nap of the carpet....not meant to clean.
