Hardwood for public areas of our home, carpeting for bedrooms. I like carpet when my feet hit the floor in the mornings. Just my personal preference.

I had my carpet removed a few years ago and got cork. Biggest mistake I ever made in the house. It takes twice the work to keep it clean. With carpet, I occasionally spot cleaned and had it done professionally once a year.I think other peoples carpeting could appear to be dirty and yucky, when you are looking for a house to buy, an old carpet is another expense added to your house purchase
Wood is easier to keep clean.

I think it all comes down to what you prefer. I grew up in a home with tile floors in every room. My first home had carpet and vinyl flooring; I didn't rest until I pulled up all the carpet and put down vinyl. When we built this house, we carpeted the living room, hallway, bedrooms, and master bath. Then came the allergy diagnosis, as well as COPD, so all the carpet has been replaced with laminate. No more carpet for me.

About where the show is filmed: I saw it yesterday for the first time and they mentioned homes in Garden Grove and also Cypress. Both of those cities are in Orange County, CA.

I prefer no carpeting. It's easier to maintain. I have carpeting in the great room, bedrooms, cellar stairs. After eight years, it looks worn. I don't wear shoes in the house, but had two cats when I moved in. Love em to death, but they are hard on the carpet. We moved from a no carpet house, to a carpeted house. They went nuts scratching it. I've tried everything, but can't get pet stains out either.

I think it's hard to keep clean too. I just have it in several rooms.

It is comfortable to walk on. Definitely.
