Re: Candle lovers, what do you do with the jars?

Thank you for the nice ideas.

For those of you who recycle them, do you clean all the wax out first? Is there an easy way to do that?

Yes, I do clean the wax out. After the last burning, I pour out the hot wax into a go cup for instance (for trashing later), then wipe the jar with paper towels to clean. If the wax is not all melted, I put the candle in the microwave for a few seconds, then wipe out.

@Eager2Learn

That's what I do, also. I was hoping there was an easier way.  The wick is often glued down and its base is made of metal. I sometimes put the jar into a saucepan with warm water to loosen the wax, rather than the microwave for this reason.

@house_cat  I freeze the jars, then break out the wax. Easy Peasy.

Re: Candle lovers, what do you do with the jars?

Depends on what kind of jar we're talking about.

If it's the Yankee Candle jar with a lid style or anything that's just a straight up and down glass jar (Walmart, YC, BH&G) I toss.

I tend to keep the more decorative ones to reuse with votives or tealights (think really gorgeous holiday glass ones). The smaller glass jar by Dipytique I reuse to hold makeup brushes, lip gloss, vials of perfume, etc.

It really depends on the size, the quality and the style of the vessel as to what happens to it in the end.
