Re: Candle Giving Me a Headache

The only candles I can burn are 100% pure beeswax, everything else bothers my eyes and gives me a headache.

My only advice is to burn it outside on the deck, in the back yard, or if you have a screened in porch.

That's what I do with any candle that is gifted to me. Can't handle B&BW, Yanks, etc.

Everyone knows I only like PartyLite candles. I buy mine on ebay as my sales rep stopped selling (asthma!)

I can burn a lot of them at a time and have no issues other than delight.

Lucky - what about the PartyLite candles impress you? No headache? Nice fragrances?

Re: Candle Giving Me a Headache

I have put candles and the Slatkin Wallflowers in the garage to mask the scent of garbage cans. I have also put it in the bottoms of the garbage cans underneath the garbage bag liner. It cuts some of the odors that seem to linger in the can.

Other ones I just leave open and don't burn. It all depends on how strong the scent is and your reaction to it.

Re: Candle Giving Me a Headache

I don't like burning candles so I put mine where the sun will shine on it and warm it naturally. I'll get a little whiff of scent as I pass by, but it's not overwhelming.

They burn clean. No soot on the ceiling (I had this happen once with grocery store jarred votives....4 dark spots about my mantle!)

I love the scents (I stick with certain ones that I enjoy and no I don't enjoy them all) And I also choose colors that go with my décor.

I have hundreds in all different shapes and forms. Tapers kinda scare me as they seem to want to tip over. I'm not wild about tea lights, they're not cost effective. But I have pillars ranging from 5 inches to 9 inches in every scent and color under the sun. Also ball shaped candles.

I light candles every night during the week and during the day if we have company.

I LOVE candles. My first post was about candles! Years and years ago.

Re: Candle Giving Me a Headache

Lucky - thanks for your input. I bought a set of 3 summer fragrances on ebay. Very reasonably priced. If they work out, I'll go back and buy more. Soooo many to choose from!

One thing I've learned (finally), is that any candle with lemon affects me this way. I burned a very high end candle that was given to me that was lemon verbena scented and it gave me a headache, too.

Can't wait to get them!

PS - I love to burn candles, too, especially when I have guests. Like walking back into my home after being gone and still pick up on the scent.

I'd call the store where you bought it and find out about the return policy. I am not familiar with this brand, but a lot of companies will back up their products and allow you to exchange for something that works for you. Good luck.

Re: Candle Giving Me a Headache

Hi all,

Decided to give it a try, all they could say was "no" to returning it. Much to my surprise, it's going back! Going to give the candle thing a rest for a while. Will see how the PartyLite candles work and just may be tempted to buy more. Wink

Re: Candle Giving Me a Headache

I would try to give it away. I give my mom candles and tarts that are too strong for me or my husband......She appreciates them and can tolerate stronger scents than we can!
