I've purchased a number of luminaras this Fall and really do love them. That being said, I am disappointed in how quickly they burn through batteries. In addition to that, they begin flickering when the batteries get low and the flickering is so annoying, I have to change them out. I have noticed that the smaller ones with C batteries last a bit longer than the larger ones with D batteries. The other evening I heard the vendor tout that they will glow for 500 hours. No way on our lovely earth can that be and I always use the timer function. Anyone experience this problem? If not, what kind of batteries do you purchase?

I have very many Luminara candles in many styles and sizes.
And while I haven't actually timed out just how long they are lasting (the batteries) and I know they aren't anything like the long lasting Candle Impressions candles, I think mine do pretty well. Many of mine use D and I think those last really long. I don't feel like I'm having to change batteries all that often.
Are you using good top end batteries? I really think that Duracell are the best. And I haven't used rechargeable batteries in a long time, but my experience has been that overtime, they don't hold much of a charge, and run out of juice fast.
Also, if the candles are used in a cold environment, that will drain batteries very quickly.

I have many luminaras that use both C and D batteries. I use Energizer batteries, and find that they last 3 months on a 5 hour timer.

I have more than a few of these candles that use the D cell batteries. I buy the industrial D cells and using the timer they last for 500+ hours. I have nad no luck with C cell battery candles lasting more than 90 days regardless of the brand and that's using the industrial batteries. Now, I only purchase the candles that use the AA or D cells.

I haven't noticed short battery life with luminara. I use Duracell batteries. I can't remember the last time I changed them. I have one set that takes C and the rest take D.

I buy Duracell and I've found their D batteries do last a good time in my Luminara.....I do use the timer rather than the remote...
But that blinking is downright annoying the other night the one in my bathroom began blinking and actually woke me up and I thought for a moment the fire alarm had gone off--I was relieved to discover it was just my Luminara...-LOL!!!
The things that really drains batteries is the Glissten Lights purchased from Pier 1 that I wound through VPH's Jingle Bell Garland....those lights really eats my AA batteries....and I see they are out again
.....this is the 3rd set in the season (although I decorated back in early November)....I'm going to explore other lighting options next year for the garland...

I have good luck with Energizer batteries in my Luminaras. I can't say if they last 500 hours because I haven't documented that but I'm satisfied with the time they last. I have some of their older candles that have a very short battery life regardless of what brand of batteries I use in them but the newer ones are much better. I use the timer most of the time.

I have found that I cannot use the cheapie Sunbeam batteries for the Luminara candles.
I use Duracells and both C and D sizes last a good long time. I forget to use the remote and leave them on all day and they are still going strong.
Use Energizers or Duracells and keep them on a timer.

I buy the batteries in a big pack from either Sam's or BJs as they are much cheaper that way.

This is the one reason I will not buy anymore flameless candles. Just too many batteries.
Having said that, I do have the larger Luminara (from Kohl's) that use 2D batteries and they seem to last a good while. Maybe 3 months on the timer.
However, I have some Luminara votives that seem to burn through AA batteries ever few weeks. I got those candles from QVC and one set went bad right away. One candle blinked with fresh batteries, so I sent back the whole set.
While I love the look of these candles, and I'm constantly tempted, I won't buy any more. I wish I had been able to get the candles that are level all the way around rather than raised on one side. They only look decent burning from the front. I see that some do not have that raised edge and I like those much better.
Oh, I use Duracell batteries, but it makes no difference at all.
