Calling All Crafters - February 2016

[ Edited ]

Hi everyone, just thought I would carry over our discussion to the new month!  Thought it might make it easier to find our discussions if we make it a monthly thing, instead of topic based.  :-)

Re: Calling All Crafters - February 2016

@mewsmomtoo Thank you for starting a new thread.  I don't know if we will have enough to talk about every month, but certainly we will in the months when craft shows have been featured.

In the January thread, you asked if the frame dies cut well and I would say they do, but it takes a lot of strength to get the sandwich through the Cuttlebug.  It is also a bit tricky to get the paper off the die, but the all-in-one tool is really helpful for that purpose.  I'm a little bit frustrated by the size of the opening in the frame.  I think it will work well for card making, but it's a bit small to showcase photos which is one of the uses I had planned for the frames.

Hey @Marsha2003  I suspect you are right about not having a lot to discuss all the time, but we can see how it goes, I guess.  AG is back at HSN in March, but I don't know when or if maybe it is for her home line of goods.  Frankly I didn't need anything when she was on in January and now I REALLY don't need anything given all I bought from HSN and her Super Sale. Cat Tongue   I do still want to buy her wallpaper...

Thank you @Austins Baba! That is exciting news.
Like I said above, I really don't need anything, but I love to see what they show. I shall have to remind myself of this as I watch the shows! :-)

Re: Calling All Crafters - February 2016

Hi everyone!  Not sure how many bought items on Anna's big sale for her annagriffin.com sale, but I was so disappointed.  I had four card kits in my cart, and when I went to pay for them, all but one had sold out.  I have heard you gals talking about that, and I agree that it stinks.  I did get the cards for men and the pretty pop up kit.

I am now selling my cards at church as a fundraiser for the church and really wanted that garden window card kit.  I keep hoping that she brings it back.  As for HSN's January show, I got the collage die cut set and put a review for it online.  Not enough for birthdays and get well, but plenty of die cuts for thank you and congratulations.  I also got the vintage cards, layers, and envelope card it and it has worked out well.

Re: Calling All Crafters - February 2016

Hi @glor46er!  I'm so sorry I have been out of touch.  My life has been a bit of a mess lately and, while I assembled a pocket letter to send to you and I bought some envelopes so I could mail it, it is still sitting in the back seat of my car!  I'm so sorry,  It is Christmas oriented but maybe I will mail it anyway.  And thank you for the Christmas card too!  I have not been a good correspondent or friend and I apologize.

Congrats on getting the card kits you did.  I wanted that garden kit too and I really wanted the metallic paper, but it was not to be.  I think next year I am going direct to the paper section, pick what I want and go to check out.  I am just going to have to prioritize and risk losing other items to get what I especially want.  Or, heck, we could just go to the Create event (if she has another, though I am pretty sure she will unless she needs to rest!) and get first dibs on Super Sale stuff.  If I win the lottery, I am going!  If I win millions, all of us regulars on the Crafter board are going :-D

Good luck with your fundraising.  What a wonderful idea to sell them at church!  I used to attend church in California and I loved the coffee hour after the service and that would be the perfect place and time to sell them.  I have finally starting looking for a church here in AZ because I need the grounding it provides.  In the meanwhile, I do enjoy watching Joel Osteen on TV because he is so positive.  I tried a couple of non-denominational churches here, but I don't enjoy the loud music or the casualness of the pastors. Somehow, I never feel like I've been to church.  In California, I went to a Presbytarian church because I had good friends who went there, but I was raised Lutheran so I will probably try a Lutheran church here.  There are two fairly nearby.

Take care and it was good to "hear" from you.

HI Mewsmomtoo and others!  No need to apologize..........I know how it feels to be busy.  I would love to see your Christmas pocket letter.  I love anything Christmas!  I sure hope you win the lottery - going to one of her create events would be fun and the stock room full of her items would be really fun!

Thanks for wishing me good luck on the fundraising.  Our church members are a hard sell so not sure how many cards I will sell.  Last Sunday my regulars bought some but not sure how many others will.  I just hope Anna comes out with more card kits this year - I am trying to stay away from pop ups because a lot of people like a verse.  Yay Presbyterians!!!  You take care!

I'm not a scrap booker or card maker, I tried it and it just wasn't for me but I do have a quilt in the frame that I am working on.
