Just design your own closet, go to the big box stores and build your own! California Closets are insanely expensive! We did our own closets in our old house and now my new home. They are efficient and use every inch of space for optimal use. Woman Happy

A big thank you to everyone who offered their opinions--both good and bad.  I did schedule an appointment with the original designer to come to our current home to see how we now utilize closets.  Then she can make her recommendations for modification at the new home.

@lolakimono  This has been a long and arduous process.  After living in an old house for years, I decided I would like to move to a shiny, new, updated  condo or loft.  I found a condo owned by a local celeb that I fell in love with, but sadly it wasn't for sale.  Within the same building a condo just came on the market, we jumped on it, put our house on the market and it sold in 5 days.  Now I have to get rid of half our furniture and lots of household stuff--a cathartic exercise!

I'd be thrilled to just have closets big enough to be able to even consider having California Closets installed!

Only half of it! 😁

No, seriously, Paisley Park is much too suburban for me.  I am a city girl through and through.

Re: California Closets -- Update

I wanted to circle back to report on our meeting with the designer of the current configuration of our soon to be California Closets.  Since we are downsizing, my biggest fear was we would not have enough closet space. She, however, assured us by measuring our current closets right down to counting garments that we will in fact be fine.

We did make a few changes.  The current master closet has two built in hampers.  We opted to have one removed and replaced with drawers.  In the entry closet there is one file cabinet and we are having another installed (admittedly, I am a paper monger).

While we aren't in our new home yet, I want to report that I am so far impressed with my experience working with the designer.   Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well.

You are going to love the Cal Closets! They are much better quality than others we looked at on the market at that time. We had every closet in the house done (all at the same time, mind you). When they needed to be tweaked, I called the Rep - easy peasy.

I am so happy you love your Cal Closets!  I am sure I will too!  Right now I love getting the computerized drawings and being able to offer suggestions to ensure our needs are met.  A real plus is they are so attractive!

Re: California Closets -- Update

Our house has very high ceilings and DH & I each have our own walk in closet. My DH put another set of shelves in each closet in the house above the one the builder installed so we have extra storage there, but I have shelves in my closet holding linens and my very large standing jewelry box in mine so it is fairly crowded anyway. I am jealous of those California closets.

Nice closets are a huge selling feature.

They're well worth the money to invest in.
