CHUBBY BIRD CLEARANCE ALERT

[ Edited ]

Two of Valerie's past cute chunky birds are on clearance.

The illuminated cut-out ones  (H217885) are now offered at $14.97 for the pair,  in the "stone" color only, a sophisticated "graphite" or charcoal shade:

I think they were at one time about $35 dollars, so nice deal.  They're pretty and versatile in the neutral color--  I could see these being left out all year.

And her pair of chubby ceramic birds (H217897) are now available (only in the "chocolate") for only $8 something!  It's hard to find large ceramic birds that are also very, very cute for that amount, and I can attest that these are darling.  I ordered them ages ago in ivory, and loved them, but returned because one had a chipped beak.  They have sweet expressions.

Both the "stone" color in the lit birds, and the chocolate in the ceramic ones, strike me as more modern and sort of "graphic", not too coy.  Could look great in both traditional and contemporary settings.

I'd be tempted, but I just found a hand-carved vintage 'shore bird' in an antique shop that I couldn't pass up.  Have always liked these sculptural shore birds --  they look so sort of wistful and artistic, full of character.  My guy isn't "chubby", but he's sweet.  You can see faint chisel marks on him that the carver left.  Love.

I can't post a picture of mine, but here's one of another shore bird I found online that looks similar to mine:

Mind has even lighter wood, and it's not glossy like this one.  Mine has a round, more refined base to it.

Re: CHUBBY BIRD CLEARANCE ALERT

I love the shore bird and agree about having some nature decor in the home.  I already have a few sets of Valerie's chubby birds and love displaying them in different rooms.  I usually put the birds out during the warmer months but they are definitely all year around decor.

Thanks for the heads up. I think the prices for the birds are very reasonable and they do look much more expensive.

Re: CHUBBY BIRD CLEARANCE ALERT

That's it, @spiderw !   Had not thought of it that exact way, but having evocations of nature in a room always make me happier.  Birds especially of course!

From where I'm sitting right now, I can see:  the shore bird, also, a bird in flight on a chinoiserie ginger jar; a vintage brass swan planter; a carved teak swan box, and a tiny, painted vintage wood hen nestled in a bowl.

Perhaps there is 'bird overload'....

@Oznell Thank you for posting this.  I will have to check it out.  I have an older pair of her birds and love them, I may have to add to my collection.   Oh, but I've been trying so hard NOT to shopSmiley Sad

Oh, I know, @LindaSal --  me too!   Occasionally, I have to make exceptions to my "limited-shopping rule",  especially if it's birds!

The scene and decor you described, Oznell, sounds so lovely!  Your nature display of our feathered friends would make me smile and feel good!!!  I admire many designers but when you decorate yourself and it works, you do feel creative!
