CENTRAL PARK MODERN LIVING ROOM

True, modern isn't my thing, but even I enjoy seeing someone else's well-done, renovated modern space!  To me, this is.  The owner worked with her designer, Tina Ramchandani, to have the nearby park be an inspiration--  thus the lush hits of the color green, and the plants and nice light coming in, with only minimal, barely there shades...

I adore what appears to be a silk velvet, moss green sofa.  And the Deco-inspired club chairs, interesting coffered ceiling, the abstract painting and touches of "organic" wicker and plants.  The rug, which suggests moss growing itself, seems to have been made for the room.

Here's how they did the rest of the renovated apartment.  Designer Tina Ramchandani describes her style as "soulful minimal".  I've always been a fan of brass, even when it was out of favor and not wildly popular like it has been the last couple of years.  The brass and gold touches in a modern space are so much more warming than chrome, I think.  Pretty floor pattern here.

Love the pretty wood in the kitchen.  To me, the woods in the apartment are what keep it lively and from going too "cold".

Even in this sleek powder room, note the homespun wood bowl holding towels.  Love touches like that.

Aside from the handsome tryptich of paintings over the bed, and the rich color green, I am not fond of the bedroom.  There appear to be plexiglass circles or discs or something behind the sconces?  Taking them down would be an improvement.

Love this bathroom!  Luxuriant space, but clean and spa-like.

Even the small, modern office has nice touches like the contrasting, recessed ceiling, soft rug and tufted couch.

Nice "pad" for the young working woman who lives here.

Bonus:   Architectural Digest gave little behind-the-scenes info on the renovation.  They said, don't be afraid to change "whites" if they are the wrong whites.  Evidently, the walls in this were, so they said they chose a warmer, creamy white,  Benjamnin Moore's "Chantilly Lace", which they said went much better with the warm woods.

AD gave some sources too!  For example, in the long console in the first living room photo, are a set of playful pottery from Anthopologie:

Note in the same console, is a mixed-media brass and glass vase, which they identify as the "Florence" vase from CB2.  They even give the price-- $24.95!

I always thought Architectural Digest was too snobby to so blithely reel off the sources of the houses they feature.  It's fun too, that in an apartment luxe enough to have a lavish Central Park address, they show that good design can be a mix of high and low....

I really like the dark green couch too.  And the green in the bedroom.  Nicely done all the way around.

There is something off w/that bed headboard.

Is it part of the wall? confused.gif

Is the bottom half of the wall a headboard? confused.gif

Why is one end green & the other end greenish black? confused.gif

Lighting? confused.gif

Does the bed have a headboard?  confused.gif

Oooh! I love all of this especially the green couch and the carpet - everything looks so beautifully designed just right for this apartment.  Thanks for sharing.

Another vote for that scrumptious green velvet sofa and rug! It absolutely makes that room imo.
I just want to curl up on it !😀

I like it too especially the green couch. I suspect apartments can be dark in New York City and this seems to bring the light in.

This does not appeal to me. It looks cold and uninviting IMO....that's why they make chocolate and vanillaWoman Happy

Most of it is not my style, but I do like bits and pieces of it....It does seem to have a lot of light and it also seems very open and airy!

I like the color of the couch. That's pretty much it.

Oh, the powder room and kitchen are passable too.

Nicely done, I suppose, but not where I'd want to live.

I love that couch and lighting in living room. The copper range hood is stunning in kitchen. I love the dark paint panels in the ceilings. Not crazy about the bedroom though.
