This cabin fits my holiday mood, which is veering toward cozy!  There's quite the romantic story about it.

Its owners are an Alabama physician and his wife, who met while in college at the University of the South, in historic Sewanee, Tennessee.  They were so smitten by the rolling, wooded hills of this lovely area, that they commissioned a snug cabin.

It is made of two antique 1840's cabins from Ohio, which have been combined on the site.  Celebrated archtiect James Carter took on the job, collaborating with designer Tammy Connor.

The old wood is very beautiful, but I love the way designer Tammy Connor used soft blue to temper all the rustic tones.  Unexpectedly dreamy canvas over the fireplace.

Imagine curling up with a good book between those two windows.

There's something about an old wood rocker by a fireplace....

There's a whimsical sleeping loft up a steep ladder;  but wait--  there are less "hazardous" bedrooms on the first floor too!

A peek into the sleeping loft:

But here's the comfy, "grounded" master bedroom:

Throughout the house, the log walls alternate with more conventional wood cladding.  I like that variety.

Love the antique chests, the old mirrors, and charming lamps...

Character-filled eat-in kitchen.

A tiny spare bedroom sports twin iron beds.  The bird prints are such a sweet touch.

I love a hallway with built-in bookcases--

Every woodsy hideaway should have a screened porch.

Despite the rusticity, this cabin for me has an almost other-worldly, fairy tale feeling.  And it's been so thoughtfully put together.  A soulful place to regroup and refresh.

Re: CABIN IN SEWANEE, TENNESSEE

@Oznell - I love the main floor living area, especially the fireplace.  Very cozy.  I would never use that loft bedroom, because of that steep ladder!  Also love the hallway with the bookshelves.   Merry Christmas!

I like the way it looks from the outside.  Would probably gut most of the inside!

@Oznell

What stunning photos ... thank you for taking the time to post them.

Just curious ....   maybe I need to double check my eyesight ... but it seemed to me that all the interior photos were airbrushed ... almost if we were seeing the rooms in a light mist.

Nevertheless, beautiful photos.

Beautiful!  I could hang out there...for a very long time!

I love this in so many ways!  I'd only change a few items like the coffee table.  LOVE the gray background!

Many thanks!

The first word that comes to mind is "dreamy".  I love everything about the inside and out.
