I am a beach person who lives on the water and this home is perfection to me....gorgeous, calming, airy, bright, great view...everything I like!

@stevieb I love it!  That's my thing, although some of my more traditional pieces would fit right in, in my world at least.

I don't see this as contemporary really, but more of a simplified, updated classic look.  It is far from a modern feeling to me, so that is what makes it just my thing.

It's my den only with a bergere chair and two leather club chairs in the mix.

Actually @Sooner, I mis-spoke, it really is more transitional in flavor than contemporary and it is very nicely done.

@stevieb I have had white sofas always (white, cream, gray--) and light colored walls (except for one forest green guest room and our paneled office).

I get variety with textures and tones and soft colors in chairs, pillows or rugs.  I have a decorator friend who a couple of times has tried to rehab me, and within 2 or 3 years I'm back to my comfort zone.

My mother was an artist and very creative and we had a lot of color, so I think I find neutrals more calming.  So yes, I'd move into the room above in a heartbeat.

I used to joke that I had Siamese cats because they match the decor (and because they are difficult--which I admire!  Woman Wink)

I have to say that even I, although there's little about this home that should 'check off my boxes', am finding this a very pleasing set of rooms.

The Master bedroom is absolutely lovely and the view spectacular.  The rest of the home is very nice, I think the colors fit a beach house.  I would hang out there for the summer!!!!!!!

I love your comment about "beach decorating" being hokey! I live on Lake Michigan, I don't need a pillow reminding me about "Lake Life". Or a sign pointing to the lake, I'm pretty sure I can find it without the arrow pointing toward it, lol.
