Re: Busy Days or Quiet At Home Days?

When I was working I was busy all the time, even with no kids at home.

I was a little leery about retiring but boy do I love retirement now! My preference is quiet time alone or with my DH. Social activities and having a lot of things to do outside the house wear me out.

But now I balance my days the way I like. I devote a couple of hours a day to cleaning or other household projects. Of course I have to add a couple of hours when holiday decorating comes around! This doesn't include meal prep which I enjoy. Then when my busy work is done I sit down with my needlework - I do counted cross stitch - and watch a ball game or some TV show with no redeeming value whatsoever. A few days a week I throw in a long walk.

After dinner DH and I watch Wheel and a couple hours of Netflix or Prime (or a ball game). I guess I just enjoy my home and don't wish for much else.

Re: Busy Days or Quiet At Home Days?

I'm still working full-time, so my time off is very precious to me. I don't get involved in anything I don't want to. Church events are mostly what I give up spare time for...I'm better at one-time events (Fall Festival, Wild Game dinner, Sunday school class parties) than I am at committing to doing something once a week or once a month. I will do more of those "regular" activites when I retire. Can't wait!

Re: Busy Days or Quiet At Home Days?

My husband and I were just talking-last Saturday was our 1st Saturday since Summer began, that we had absolutely no plans, and no company! We didn't even know what to do with ourselves.......lol! I like being busy, but I love and treasure my downtime. We both still work fulltime, so weekends are usually so busy.....

Fall should be a little quieter for us!

I've been so busy this summer I can hardly stand it.  I need my downtime.  I also like to putter in my home.

I like both.  I love to be home puttering, but I also need action.  Balance is always best.

Re: Busy Days or Quiet At Home Days?

I am mostly an introvert and I definitely like to have a mix of busy and quiet days at home.  The busy days help me to appreciate being home alone with the opportunity to recharge.  Recharging gets me ready for more FUN!

I would rather be busy, not out and about running here, there and everywhere but in the house.

It feels so mch better at the end of the day to be able to say gee I did a lot today rather than a do only what you need to get by kind of day.

I need a balance.  Too much of either is no good.  I have to have my downtime or I burn out.

90% quiet days at home for me. Sometimes I wonder how I got up at 5:15 and went to a full-time job for 37 years.

Re: Busy Days or Quiet At Home Days?

A mix for me because I need to be doing something. I only watch tv limited hours in the evening ...during the day I always find something to do or go.

I get bored easy and I don't like anything out of place -- my house is always clean & orderly.

This weekend was planning on doing some Fall outside decor but its just too hot...maybe October!
