It is different and for a child would probably work because it would be like having their own space but I am not overwhelmed by it.

This is really clever!  I like it......their own space.  College dorms should be like this.

That would be great if you lived in a smaller home for kids to have some of their own space on each side of the room.

It would also work in cabins, dorms, beach rental property etc to have more sleeping area.

It's a clever idea.  "Built-in" overcomes a disadvantage of bunkbeds - when one person or the other turns over in bed, the whole bed moves.

Terrific idea. This could go so many directions with color and finishes. The angle shooting toward the strong sunlight and the dark colors and shadows in the foreground make it appear darker and more austere than it probably is. It's the basic design that's so good. Imagine finished for 2 girls or as an office/occasional guest room. One bed structure could instead be enclosed as storage/files etc.

 

As for this arrangement, wonder how you get into the top bunk. Looks like they left the awkward ladder out of the photo.
