What do you think of metal here, instead of wood?

I like it, but I would change the goldtone to silvertone.  I think with the all the gray and black silver would be more appealing to my eye.

I like it. The brass/gold is different.

You can always easily replace or paint it if you get tired of it.

I like the look of the brass kickplate. What I would not like is to have to try to keep it looking clean. Seems like when you mop your floors you would get water/soap splatter on the brass and after awhile it starts to look odd. (Getting up from my hands and knees is not as easy as it once was).

It's fine, but I'd prefer to not give prominence to that area.  Something dark and recessive would be my choice.

I guess you could still go with metal - a rustic bronze might be attractive.  I'd move some of that stuff out of the way on the lowest shelf so those spirits could be dispensed!

I don't love it but I think the bigger issue is that it would be difficult to keep it in the pristine condition it needs to be in at all times.  If it get scraped and smudgy it will look terrible.

I don't like this room, starting with those things hanging from the ceiling. Yuck! Don't like brass, either.
