Before you give your Boyds Bears to GoodWill or other similar org. why not bring them to a childrens hospital, nursing home, cancer treatment centers, churches for fundraisers, homeless shelters (do actually have children there), abuse shelters, fire department or any number of other places. I often see posts about people donating only to GoodWill and there are so many other places that really Need things like your giving to GoodWill that they turn around and sell.

Excellent idea, bluegrassbaby! I am keeping your list in case the day comes when they have to go.

I have a handful of Boyd's that I work into vignettes throughout the different season. I'm glad I never "collected" them, and many other things that people regret spending so much money on, but I love the few I have, most of them vintage looking.

That is sad news. I enjoyed the shows and have several of the bears in a basket in my room which goes by the Christmas tree in December.

I imagine there are many with very special memories with their Boyds bears. I met my birth mother when I was about 57 (she was a QVC fan, too). She sent me a Boyds bear in a darling dress. DH gave me another with a red checked dress and little straw hat and she is musical.

Some of my favorite memories of QVC are the Boyd's Bear shows with MaryBeth and Gary. They were hysterical and the bears were always adorable!!!

I agree .....I have been giving the bears to Grandkids for birthdays , then I look the other way knowing the clothes and accessories will probably get lost and the bears will get dirty but at least they will get loved (: instead of being in a box in my storage room .

My very large collection of Boyd's Bears was lovingly bundled up and sent to a church in West Liberty, Ky, after it was hit by a tornado that wiped out most of the town. Our local police use bears to give to children to comfort them when they are in stressful situations--so I know some little bear was welcomed by a child. Truly enjoyed living with the bears for a few years as they always made me smile.

And I always bought something. Cats, bears, figurines ...... didn't matter because I loved them all. Smile

I think it's sad too... the end of an era where there was a lot of disposable income and people loved to collect things that just made them smile. Now we consider purchasing these kind of items sparingly (or at all) and instead put the money towards rent, clothes and food. I loved Boyd's Bears as well... and Marie Osmond Dolls, especially her tiny little ones.

Bye Boyd's.... {#emotions_dlg.sad}

Sorry to hear when any successful business fades away. They once had a black & white cat that I wanted but never got around to ordering. Just as well since I'm now downsizing & de-cluttering, & very anti-collecting now.
