The carpet helps to brighten the area, but overall, nope too dark.  I'd feel too confined in the space.  Can't stand the stairway.

I'm assuming that beige door is the entry door based on the door window.

 

Rather awkward entry and the color combo doesn't do it any good.

They lost me with that awful pattern on the floor... I didn't love the overall look anyway, but that cinched it for me...

I admire how this designer pulled it together, particularly the beige pulled from the floor to the door to the picture frame, perfect.  The small window in the door repeating the rectangular shape as it comes down the hall way.  And all of it remaining clean and bright in an enclosed space. That's talent. 

 

ETA: The lines in the flooring for both the hall, stairs and doorway, deserve notice, too.
