Re: Blue Living Room...

[ Edited ]

I LOVE the blue colors but all of the patterns compete with one another and if I stared at it long enough, I'd get a headache.  Individually, I like most everything though.

This is very pretty. I love it for someone else as is. I would probably change the drapes and lamp shades to white if it were my home.

Too many patterns...makes me dizzy!!!

Apparently, I'll be pretty much the lone voice who loves the patterns in the living room... Given all those white walls, I think the patterns work nicely and are not, for me, too much. The chair is white and the patterns are primarily on the sofa, curtains and lampshades, so no, not too much... But for those who are flummoxed by the use of pattern, just wait until you see this room juxtaposed against the adjoining dining room... It might well prove to be too much for the pattern-shy among us...

All that said, I'd probably never opt for a room like this because despite it being a beautiful color, as noted, I'm not a fan of large amounts of blue in home decor...

Oh, no, you're not alone in that, @stevieb!   I just went back to look at it again, and confirmed my first opinion.  I think he put the patterns together in a masterful way, and there's enough plain solids (for me at least) to provide relief.

It's a sophisticated use of pattern.  And, I'd bet in this house there are other rooms-- a den, library, another sitting room-- so you'd have your choice of different environments to sprawl around in.  Nice to have at least one visually lively room!

Too much of a good thing imo.

Like others here I like all the things individually, but all together it's too much.  At least lose the blue n white draperies and replace with sheer white panel draperies.

I like it. The blue and white contrast is striking.

Beautiful room.  Ugly sofa and chair.

Way too much blue for me.
