Birdbath question

I have had a bird bath outside my window for years and the birds of all types drink and take baths. My ceraminc one broke and I purchased a new one. It is smooth glass and very large in circumference AND has lots of color in the design. So, it is larger than my former one, more colors and deeper. But.....the birds don't like it. Their daily visits have decreased and they seem afraid to drink and take a bath. A few have done it but it definitely has changed since I purchased the new one. Has anyone ever experienced this with their little feathered friends?
