The show on HGTV with the husband who is a contractor and the wife is the decorator and they have 4 kids in waco, texas. Gosh, why can't I think of the name of the show, the couple are Chip & Joanna Gaines. anyway - my point is - she uses a lot of white in her decorating, and mostly neutrals when she uses color. I am crazy about her decorating style.

I like white - not stark white but an off shade. It will be interesting to see what Pantone's 2016 Color of the Year is. This year it was Marsala - such a pretty color.

Having lived in an apartment pretty much my whole life.......I have a great dislike for white walls.

I see this simply as advertising, but not a "trend."
All the paint companies have sheets of color options, many of them feature white, while others feature "cottage colors," or "seaside color," or "Southwest color," and so on. You'll see them change from time to time, but at the same time all the paint companies still offer all their colors all the time.
Makes for fun conversation, though.

The show on HGTV with Chip and Joanna Gaines is Fixer Upper. I too love their show. She does tend to use white a lot. Also, gray. She is the one who gave my daughter and I the idea of painting our kitchen cabinets white. There is so many shades of white it is ridiculous. Also, I love Benjamin Moore paints - goes on great and hardly any smell.

I would never paint a wall simply white. I must have color.

I have white walls, hardwood floors, and tons of windows throughout my home. I love the combination.
The white is really versatile. I like to swap out my favorite artwork fairly frequently, and the white wall is a blank canvas that fades into the background, so that my art (and the views out the windows) becomes the focal point.

If you have all white wallls and ceilings then what co,lor do you have all the wood trim around the windows and doors and crown moldings etc? Are they painted? Are they natural wood? Are they a color?
When we ordered this house we had better quality, more attractive wood trim used and put in crown molding throughout and I like having the trim white against the beige walls so it stands out and is noticed.

I dislike stark white white walls. I haven't seen Simply White in person though.
I don't even use ceiling white on my ceilings. It's too stark. I use Sandstone on my ceilings and trim. It's a much softer color.
