I probably wouldn't give this 1754 New Jersey farmhouse a second look, but some of you will be blown away by its interior as I was.

It was registered with National Register of Historic Places on March 1, 1975 and featured in many magazines.

One feature makes it very distinctive.

Does anyone know what this design is or was this farmer just being creative?  At first, a Pennsylvania Dutch (German) hex design came to mind used on their barns; however, this house is in New Jersey.  Still the farmer could have been German.  Many who came here were farmers.

This is what the house looked like in 1939.

Now for the best.  Many pieces of furniture are antiques from the 1700's and 1800's.

There is an addition at the back of the house where the kitchen is located.

I love older homes and their back stories.  Thanks for sharing the interior with us.

The kitchen is interesting with the dishwasher and oven/burners catty cornered like that.

I'd also like to know what that design on the side of the house means.
